Turn-up The Volume on YOU!

volumeOne of the things I love about owning my business is that each day brings a myriad of opportunities to tap into different aspects of my gifts and strengths. But let’s face it, it can also be a lot! On a daily – even hourly – basis we are required to shift gears and perform tasks that are as varied as the items on our “to do” list. It’s an element of entrepreneurship that can send some into overwhelm or others to the sofa in an effort to shut out the countless demands of business ownership.

So back in 2010, after a year of playing with the concept of archetypes in my personal coaching with John, I began to look at my role as an entrepreneur from a new perspective.  What I noticed is that throughout the day, there were a number of roles I needed to step into depending on what was on my calendar.  In the stretch of a few hours I might be called upon to coach a client, close a sale, strategize with a team member or decide on a budget for an upcoming campaign.  What I needed was a way to consciously move from role to role so that I could be present to what was needed and access that part of my genius to step powerfully into that role. Day 22: Finding One’s Place Amidst the Competition

Welcome to day 22 of “30 Days Behind the Curtain with Jane.”

22It’s been an interesting few days for me. As we prepare to re-brand my company that builds online learning academies for thought leaders, I tasked myself with a “Sherlock Holmes” type assignment to take a close look at other companies that also play in the virtual training space.  I know that to solidify our place in this niche, we must better understand the landscape in which we play.

Inbox Overwhelm – Is it killing your productivity?

OK, it’s time for some true confessions. How many emails are in your Inbox right now? I don’t mean just the bolded emails that have not been looked at. I’m referring to all of them – opened and unopened. Over the years, I’ve heard it all, from a few dozen to over ten thousand! Yikes. Here are a few questions to see if you are suffering from inbox overwhelm.

  • Are you keeping any emails in your inbox as a reminder of an action step you need to take?
  • Do you have emails in your inbox simply because you don’t want to lose the information or forget a point?
  • When you open your email do you have a “not-so-good” feeling when you see the mass of emails screaming for your attention?
  • Have you ever felt like blocking the entire slew of emails and sending them off to the recycle bin?

If you answered YES to any of these questions, you are not alone. Inbox Overwhelm seems to afflict even the most successful entrepreneurs. How about you?
